Language
One of the greatest strengths of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is its interdisciplinary strength in the study of language. This interdisciplinary strength, mostly organized under the "cognitive science" umbrella, is spread through many departments within the College, and reaches out into other schools and colleges, in particular the literacy programs in the Neag School of Education.
Six new hires in Linguistics, Cognition, Cognitive Science of Language, and Speech Disorders and Translational Research will position the University to become one of top national programs for the study of language theory, acquisition, and disorders.
